As part of the 2015 Charlottesville Dogwood Festival, the 4th Annual Dogwood Benefit Breakfast will be held on Friday April 24, 2015 at the Holiday Inn Charlottesville-University Area. The "Legacy of Love" Benefit Breakfast will honor Arianne McAllister. The proceeds from the silent auction will go to Arianne and her family.

Arianne McAllister hails from Charlottesville, VA. A graduate of Virginia Tech, Arianne is a lover of art, music, and literature; she is also physically active as an avid hiker, skier, and yoga enthusiast. Her one true love, however, is her beautiful and sweet-natured 4-year-old son, Mason. While growing into the kind and caring young woman she is today, she always dreamed above all else of becoming a mother, a dream which turned into a reality in August of 2010. She felt blessed and complete.

In the fall of 2011, Arianne began to experience muscle aches, nausea, fatigue, and random sharp pains in her organs, just a general feeling of being unwell. After being shuffled around between many doctors and many misdiagnoses, she wound up in the ER in November of 2013. A CT scan was performed, and the news came back that they had found 9 tumors on her liver. It was eventually determined that the cancer had originated in her colon. Arianne had Stage Four Metastatic Colon Cancer.

Arianne battled through numerous hospital stays, spending more time in the hospital than out, painful surgeries and treatment. She had her liver resected in May of 2014 and colon surgery in July. Throughout all of this she carried on like a warrior. In late July Arianne received the amazing news that her margins were clear and she was cancer free.

Unfortunately, this past November at a routine visit, she was given the news that the doctors had found a lesion on her spine. Once again, Arianne is fighting for her life. Not only for herself but for the family and friends that love her, most particularly for her little boy. She will battle this war as she did the first, with dignity and grace. Through her strong faith she has no fear of the future. She loves deeply and cherishes the moments that mean the most. Arianne is making her legacy known for those that love her but most importantly, her precious boy.

The success of the Silent Auction depends on the donations received. If you helped out last year, I extend my heartfelt thanks and hope that you will once again be a part of this very worthwhile cause. If you were not a part of the 2014 Benefit Breakfast and auction, please consider helping out. Can we count on your support?

If you are interested in donating an item (or items), please let me know. Remember "it takes a village….one person at a time".
