Katelyn Almarode is the 17 year old daughter of Brian Almarode and Jennifer Yowell. Katelyn is a Junior at Fluvanna County High School where she is a member of the Varsity and competition Cheerleading squad and swim and dive team. She is enrolled in Honors courses and working towards graduating with an advanced diploma, she particularly enjoys participating in her journalism class where she helps with the yearbook and written articles published in the Fluvanna Review. Katelyn is an active volunteer in the community and with the SPCA. She also fosters animals through a local rescue. She enjoys being employed at the Dogwood restaurant. After high school she plans to attend James Madison University and pursue a career in Education and Family Law.
Katelyn's platform, "moving forward by helping others" is geared towards encouraging people to volunteer and make a difference in their community. She has done so by making many visits to nursing homes with other friends and family to spend time with the residents and brighten their day. She has also collected items for an orphanage in Haiti, suitcases for Fluvanna Social Services, and items for the SPCA. She has attended numerous events in Fluvanna and surrounding counties hoping to show others that no matter who you are, you can make a difference.
